New Delhi, Jan 17, 2019(Tez Samachar Bureau): With the pollution becoming a life endangering menace that has reached alarming levels across Delhi NCR, experts and public thinkers demanded immediate policy initiatives to address the matter, advocating adoption of sustainable sources of energy to make the planet safe for the future.
Shri Shakti Sinha, Director, Nehru Memorial Museum & Library said “India has progressed exponentially in the last two-three decades which is encouraging. The development will be even faster now and so will be the changes.It is important that we guard against pollution that accompanies progress.”
“It is important that we leave a planet safe for the children and therefore, the responsibility of the youth assumes significance and I compliment StratSol Foundation for the great initiative in this regard,” Sinha who was the chief guest at a media workshop organised by StratSol Foundation, titled Sustainable Sources of Energy and Solution to India’s environmental Problems, added.
Shri K G Suresh, Director General, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, quoting Mahatma Gandhi said “there is enough for everyone’s need but not for anyone’s greed”
“Charity begins at home. We cannot transfer the responsibility of controlling pollution and saving the environment on government or anyone else. Each person will have to take it as a mission. There is has been major initiatives in the last five years or so. And the government action needs to complemented with community support to make India better, cleaner and less polluted,” Suresh, who was the keynote speaker, said at the event partnered with Lingaya’s Lalita Devi Institute of Management and Sciences and supported by Indian Oil.
Suresh lauded StratSol Foundation for taking a solution oriented programme instead of merely pointing out the problems, and said others should emulate it.
“Clean, pollution free environment is a necessity. It cannot be compromised. As part of our endeavour to sensitize the media, students and other stakeholders of the intelligentsia on issues of importance, we organize StratSol Talks series. This workshop brings the youth in engagement with other stakeholders. . We believe that the issue of energy, especially in the context of environment, is in need of direct and solution-oriented outreach. Extra efforts are needed to educate and align the stakeholders on the nuanced value it holds in the process of building a modern nation,” Rahul Kashyap, Executive President, StratSol Foundation.
Noted lawyer Sandeep Mahapatra asserted on greater citizen driven behavioural change and said while people were quick to react on matters of rights, the duties each one of us have towards the country is turned a blind eye.
“Youth is central to the idea of today’s event. Unless we look at issues from the point of view of the youth, we will be barking up the wrong tree. We must try to find solutions from the perspectives of the youngsters and I am sure the results wisaid. It will amaze us and help us make the nation that we all dream of said Dr Ajitabh of Lingyaya’s Lalita Devi Institute of Management and Sciences, New Delhi.
