Jalgaon(Tez Samachar Desk): The Electronics and Telecommunication Department of the local Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering (SSGMCE), Shegaon held FDP(Faculty Development Programme) at its campus. The Faculty Development Programme on Computer Vision and Machine Learning was organized during 3rd December to 7th December 2018 under E&ICT Academy, IITDM, Jabalpur, an initiative of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

Machine learning and its future
Machine learning is the study of algorithms and mathematical models that computer systems use to progressively improve their performance on a specific task. Machine learning algorithms build a mathematical model of sample data, known as “training data”, in order to make predictions or decisions without being explicitly programmed to perform the task.
Machine learning algorithms are used in the applications of email filtering, detection of network intruders, and computer vision, where it is infeasible to develop an algorithm of specific instructions for performing the task.
Machine learning platforms are among enterprise technology’s most competitive realms, with most major vendors, including Amazon, Google, Microsoft, IBM and others, racing to sign customers up for platform services that cover the spectrum of machine learning activities, including data collection, data preparation, model building, training and application deployment. As machine learning continues to increase in importance to business operations and AI becomes ever more practical in enterprise settings, the machine learning platform wars will only intensify.

The FDP began with the inaugural function. Dr. S. B. Somani, Principal and the Organizing Chair welcomed the guests present for the FDP. Chief guest Prof. K. M. Bhurchandi, VNIT, Nagpur interacted with the participant faculty members and explored his views on computer vision and machine learning. Dr. S. B. Somani, in his address, highlighted the need to organize such programs frequently. The objective of the FDP was to provide a platform share views, ideas and current innovations in the field of machine learning and computer vision and also to offer hands on training.
Well-known resource persons from premier technical institutes like VNIT Nagpur, IITDM Jabalpur and Industry delivered sessions during the FDP. Total 48 faculty members across the country participated and got benefitted.
Coordinators Prof. Vikas. K. Bhangdiya and Prof. P. R. Wankhede worked for the successful conduction of the FDP under the guidance of convener and EXTC head Dr. G. S. Gawande.
